I am still learning

I´m fascinated with this late drawing of Goya titled “I am still learning”. On his last years of his hard life, after the lost of his friends and relatives, sick, deaf and probably suffering mental problems, Goya kept on working and studying. There is a huge strength in this apparently weak and old man, who is gripping the walking sticks to stand on. That´s the philosophy of life of the painter that I appropriate for myself: “I am still learning”.

The drawing has been recently restored and in exhibited in the Prado museum.

¿Aún no conoces el monasterio del Escorial?

Si hay un lugar donde se percibe el peso de la historia es el Monasterio de San Lorenzo del Escorial, centro religioso y político durante los tiempos del Gran Imperio español de Felipe II. Esta magnífica obra, considerada patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO, se dice que fue construido para conmemorar la victoria de los españoles en la Batalla de San Quintín, el 10 de agosto de 1557. Aquí vivió Felipe II con una gran austeridad, y aquí murió y está enterrado junto a casi todos los miembros de la Dinastía de los Austrias.
